Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
