Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located many other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior official said the incident left him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
